My Experian report looks good, my student loan says it has never been late since it was opened. Equifax is all types of messed up, saying it was late up to 120+ days about 4 times.

My issue is, I completely lost the contact info for loans when I was going through living situation hell after I got financial expulsion from school.

I tried to ask DLS (Direct Loan Services, I have a Stafford) about removing those lates from my report and the agent said they can't remove anything from my report.

As fla and plenty of others have said, it's a field in a computer, anything can be changed, added or removed!

The loans are currently in good standing, I was paying and now I'm back in school on deferrment. How can I get those removed from Equifax and Transunion!?!?

Experian report is good, nothing neg cept this 1 CO that hopefully someone in the credit forum can advise me about.

I don't want to pay for the actual scores until I clean up as much as I can. HELP!

What is the correct version? Were you ever actually late, or did you get a deferment? Can you post exactly what is showing on both reports?

So the Stafford loans are reporting negatively on Transunion too? When you called DLS did you call up and just talk to a first-level CSR? How exactly (and whom) did you ask them to remove the negatives?

Honestly this was before my wiser CB-member days. I just asked the CSR "Hey, there's a lot of lates on my credit report from when I wasn't receiving the notices, can those be removed?" and the lady said "Sorry, but those can't be touched now."

EQ and TU say I have lates. I later took a deferrment once I got the notices. The exact situation is, they were mailed to my parents' house, not to me, and I haven't lived with them, at that time, in over 3 years, and since before even entering college. They had that address because I was told, wrongly, that I couldn't be independant as long as I was under 22yrs old. My brother got them from my parents and brought them to me, which was kinda shocking, and I called them right away.

EX is reporting just fine on them though, no lates reported, EX is my best report it seems.

Was it considered a retroactive deferment?

Either way, talking to a first-line CSR is almost never a good way to get anything done. They are there to answer general questions and don't actually have much authority to do anything else.

If your deferement was considered retroactive, that certainly gives you a lot more ammunition. But regardless, I'd send my next request in writing, explaining the situation, and asking nicely for a goodwill gesture. See if you can find a name of someone with authority to personally address the letter to.

Cheech, will a goodwill letter work to get the SL tradeline removed after it has been consolidate with Dept of Education?

lextexgal - that is truly one of those YMMV situations. Some have been successful, some (like me) not. It doesn't hurt to try though.
