Well, I made my final rehab payment on 8/19 and my loan was approved by the consolidation loan people on 8/31. My first payment isn't even due to them until 10/10, so I even have a nice little break this month (I did call both the CA and the new loan servicer to confirm that!!). My payments with the consolidation loan are going to be less than half of what I was paying for rehab. I won't know what to do with all of the extra money (although I'm sure I'll figure something out). Of course, now I just have to watch to make sure the USDOE makes the changes to my credit report, but one thing at a time!
Thanks to everyone here for all of your help!!

Remember how people used to have mortgage burning parties when they paid off their houses? Wouldn't it be fabulous to have a student loan note burning party?... lol
Sorry, just had to say congrats again. I know what a huge relief it was for me to get through rehab. Sorta felt like a fresh start.
Woohooooooooo!!!!!

Good idea, Cheech! Unfortunately, until those default notations are removed, I've got NOTHING I'm even going to THINK about burning!! It is like a big weight has been removed. It was weird talking to the FFELP loan people like I was a "normal" person and not have the conversation end with "this call is to collect a debt and all information will be used for that purpose, blah, blah, blah"!!!
Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone!

Would you mind posting your scores before rehab and after?
