I recently enrolled in the pheonix University program, can I get student loans to offset the expense? My credit is no good, but I dont make a lot of money and would like to try to pay for my education without struggling.
Thanks

You can apply for federal student loans, as long as you don't have any defaulted student loans already. They don't look at credit at all and the interest rate and repayment terms can't be beat. You are limited, however, in how much you can take out. Since the University of Phoenix is a private school, though, that may not be enough. Also, while I'm almost positive that you can, federal aid may not be available if you're enrolled in the exclusively online program. Check with Phoenix's financial aid office, though. They can tell you for sure if your program is eligible for federal aid (if you're not taking online classes, I'm sure it is) and get you the application forms. They call also tell you about other programs (scholarships, grants, other loans, etc.) that may be available. If you put enough of those together, I'm sure you can make it work.

Good luck!
