Full Version: Did sending PFD mess up my chances for HIPPA technique

I have a couple of medical collections showing on my credit report; $124 from 03/2006 and $120 from 07/2009.
I owe them and now have the ability to pay them off. FL is my home state so the 2006 is likely to fall off soon (I believe?)
There are NO other blemishes on my report, but as a result of these two my score has dropped 100+ points.
After reviewing other posting sites, I was convinced that sending Pay for Delete letters was the way to go.
I just sent them out to the CA's this past Friday by CMRR.

After reading about Why Chat's HIPPA technique, I'm not certain if I made the right choice.

Depending on the outcome, did this mess up my chances for using the HIPPA technique?

If not, where would I begin provided I am unsuccesful with the PFD's? OR should I emply a new technique before they reply?

No, the reporting time allowed is 7 years, so they would remain until 2013.

You are thinking of the statute of limitations - it has nothing to do with reporting. It has to do with suing you. If you were to be sued for this debt after the 3 years is up, you have an absolute defense - however, you can be sued anyway, and if you are you must present this defense.

Lots of people make this mistake. smile.gif

For now, you should probably wait and see what response you get to your offer to pay. Maybe you'll get lucky.

As mentioned above I am working to resolve 2 medical collections on my credit reports.

I have reviewed the advice to OPT-OUT and remove OLD ADDRESSES.

Please confirm my understanding as to the relevance of each.

OPT-OUT prevents the inquiries designated as “Promotional” and/or those that do NOT impact my credit rating are viewable only by ME. Is that correct? It will simply stop the promotional offers?

OLD ADDRESS deletion is primarily for preventing identity theft (?) Because my credit is Good (other than the 2 collections), then I would need to contact each and every Current Creditor, and PAST Satisfactory Creditor to confirm that they have my Current address so that they are not inadvertently deleted.

Please confirm my interpretations, as I would not want to have a previous satisfactory account removed.

Thanking you in advance.

If you have closed GOOD accounts on your reports, then BEFORE doing any address deletions, notify them of your current address so they can update your records, that way you will not lose any "good" accounts, obviously any CURRENT good accounts should have your correct current address

Thanking you in advance.

Incorrect on both counts.

Your data is SOLD to data miners, who then resell your data to garbage CA's and JDB's who will "match" your data with whatever old accounts, ( yours or someone elses with a similar name) and poison your reports with fraudulent and incorrect collection accounts as soon as they have been SOLD the data that you are applying for a mortgage or have moved.

The address deletions are to prevent the automated "matching" of your address with a disputed collection account that you are trying to have deleted.

If you have NOT moved in the past 6 years, you do not need to do the address deletions. If your credit is( and has been always) perfect and you want to continue to receive offers from CC Companies, then you do not need to opt out.

Thanks Why Chat, any thoughts as to my ORIGINAL post?

Yes, a PFD will pay a CA who has no legal right to collect a RED CENT and will at best leave you with a "paid" collection on your reports.

Send each CRA this , after opting out ( follow ALL the directions)
