I have an acct on my Experian credit report from 10/1999. It is from the Univ of Pgh. I withdrew from graduate school after becoming very sick back in 1999. Univ of Pgh is on my report twice. This one says sold or transferred. Then there is another stating the account was open on 1/2004. Can they still report this even though the account is 10 yrs old?
TIA!
EDITED TO ADD: I don't know if this should be posted under school loans, because I owed the money to the school not a lending institution.

When was your date of last payment? If over 7 years old, dispute it as obsolete.

The last activity is when the clock will start for the ten-year window on a positive account. The account open date is NOT a factor (else you would NEVER see an account older than ten years on ANYONE'S report).
