I tried to open an acount with a local CU and was turned down due to a Chexsystems report, so I order the report and this is what it says.

Dear xxxx,

Enclosed is the copy of the information currently in your consumer file at Chexsystems. This report is based ont eh identifiers you have provided to us.

There is additional information on our files which is similar to yours, however since the identifiers you provided did not match those listed in our files we are unable to release that infomation to you. If you can provide us with the following identifiers, we would be happy to continue our search and release to you any additional matching information.

- addresses for the past five years

If you have any question, blah, blah, blah.

The thing is I have lived at my address since 7/28/04. So this is the only address I have had for the past 5 years.

What do I do now? and how??

Thanks!

it sounds like they couldn't verify your identity. I think MCA would be better to answer your question.

You have the right to know if all the information contained on your credit report is true and accurate. As a consumer, you have the right to dispute information which you think are false, erroneous or fraudulent.

The Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act protects consumers from such inaccuracy or possible fraudulent accounts contained in their credit report. In fact, if a credit reporting agency or a credit bureau refuses to give you the appropriate service you need, you may also report it to The Federal Trade Commission.

Every year, all consumers are allowed to obtain a copy of their report from the three major credit bureaus for free. ChexSystems is a credit reporting agency by definition and tehy also must provide you with this information. Thus, after making a careful examination on your credit report, you can inform the credit bureaus/chexsystems if you find any disputable records on your credit report.

I would send them a certified letter along with a copy of the letter that they just sent to you and demand a copy of your report. Tell them that they are in violation of the FCRA. Inform them that you have provided them with accurate identification (that does include your social security number) make a copy of your DL and send it to them and remind them that they law and that you will file a complaint with the FTC. To process your request, you will need to provide specific information, such as your name, current and previous addresses, telephone number, social security number, and date of birth. Also, to verify your identity, other information such as a copy of your driver's license, utility bill(s), or bank statement may be required. Tell them that you have provided them proper identification and are concerned that there may be inaccurate information on your file.
