This story gets good and just had to share it.
I have two medical collections that my wife's ex was suppose to kick in 50% of total cost after insurance. The medical bill personal wanted like 450 a month. We were able to pay for a while then money got tight and we called and talked to the billing dept and they said if we were late 3 months in a row they would turn it over to collections and more or less told us not there problem. Even tho they were on the news saying they were helping people out with setting up low payments as to avoid any problems. So, acct went to collections. We ended up pay it off back in 2005-06. They still are on there saying they are correct info and will say on there for 7yrs. When we got the first letter from collection dept they said you had the normal 30 day dispute process...well we disputed and they had a copy of exactly what was done x-rays, shots, office visits, lab work....etc.....We misplaced it due to moving. After we settled down from moving...I sent a letter saying I would like a copy of all the x-rays, shots, office visits, lab work....etc....they responded saying they don't have anything. When they acct gets paid they send the info back to doctors....Now her ex wants to pay everything off...So, we called up doctors and got the info they said to contact collection dept same one who handled this to get a copy of everything else. I figured I would try calling this time. They said that they have the info and would send it out...i asked if it had x-rays, shots, office visits, lab work....etc.... and she said yes it does. So....when we get this paper work...how or what should I do far as getting items removed from my credit report. I would think it would be Hippa laws?? Thanks, Tom
