I started that thread focusing on one CA, but dealing with 2 of them. Now that they have taken on different paths,(the first CA is taken care of) I need to focus on the second one.

My steps so far have been:
opt out
sent PRE HIPAA MEDICAL DISPUTE LETTER TO CRA- came back as validated
sent COLLECTION AGENCY VALIDATION/DISPUTE/CEASE AND DESIST - Response from them is below

The response I received From CA
Thank you for your recent correspondence. We have investigated your credit reporting dispute and determined it fails to meet certain requirements for the following reason ;
You have failed to provide sufficient information to investigate the disputed information.
Please provide documentation to support your dispute
You may resubmit your dispute with the additional information noted.
Attached to that was a bill from the OC with my name and old address on it.

I did sent the follow up letter to the CRA when I got the green card back, they validated again.

What are my next steps?


Sorry for starting a new post, but I really don't want to screw this up.

I really could use help with this. It is the last negative on my credit and it would be great to get this off my report.

I received a similar letter and the advice was to file complaints with the FTC against the CA for FDCPA violations and against the CRA's for FCRA and FACTA violations.

The letter I received was a a little different than yours, so you should probably wait for one of the experts to chime in... Hopefully they will be along shortly.

The bill is from 2004, not a valid bill, and it is from a hospital.

You deleted old addresses, if possible.
You sent the CRA'(s) the initial dispute letter
They ALL verified?? Or it is only still reporting to ONE CRA??

You sent the medical DV to the reporting CA who responded with a request for personal data.?

You sent the follow up to the CRA(s) with a copy of the medical DV and proof of the CA receipt??

You have had a second refusal to delete from the CRA(s)??

Yes. the CA just sent the letter telling me " You have failed to provide sufficient information to investigate the disputed information.
Please provide documentation to support your dispute" with a a copy of a medical bill with my name and an address I lived at 7 years ago on it.

The CRA's all validated again.

If your follow up to the CRA's included a copy of the medical DV and the proof of receipt, and they have all reverified the accounts, then something is screwed up somewhere!!!

What is the time line for your correspondence??

Although the debt isn't mine, it was my name used. I believe it was an ex's new bf that used my info.

You need to file an ID theft report with the FTC and a copy to the CA and the CRA's. and a copy to the OC

State CLEARLY what the problem is. That an unknown person used your ID to obtain medical services on ( give date) that you were not living at the address given by that person, however it was the address of your ex wife who had access to your personal ID information and who MAY have furnished it to a friend.

Question?? Do you have any children in the custody of your ex that you are providing insurance coverage for??
