Marvbear I need your expertise.

My mom died last week and had a 2004 Volvo S60 on Lease. CAr has less than 6000 miles on it (bought in October 2003.) Dad checked on trying to turn it in the dealer said no dice. told him his best bet would be to Find some one to take over lease or sell it for the payout of 27,000. The lease is in both of my parents names. does he have any other options. He already has a car that is a 2003 Volvo that is paid in full and can't afford a car payment and needs 2 cars like he needs a hole in his head right now. Any advice?

Cathy:

I am very sorry to hear of your loss, My condolences.

The lease in question was a jointly held lease that both your parents signed? If that is the case, then I believe the dealership you questioned may be correct.

It is unusual, but there is a slight possiblity they could have had Credit Life insurance on the lease. If that was the case it could releave your father of the remaining payments. You should examine the contract closely.
