Here's the situation. We live in Washington State. We are letting go of our house. We have filed bankruptcy. We moved into a new home. We had all of our utilities shut off at the old home. When we called to have our seward services shut off, we were told as long as the house is in our name we have to pay the bill. It is $55 a month. If it is not payed by the end of this month (now at $130) their will be a lien placed on the house. I don't want to pay anything towards a house we don't live in. Plus my husband was just let go of his job so we are on limited income.

What to do???

That's an interersting question. When I gave up my house in BK7, they told me that I too, was responsible for the sewer bill until it sold. I told them that I surrendered house in BK, and they could send the bill to the attorney's office. I think if you don't pay it (at least in the county that I was in), they add it to your real estate tax bill. And since you aren't paying that anymore either......

Now I'm not saying that's how it works but that's how it went down for me. They never sent me another bill either.
