This is just a glance at what each of you do for a living and how much you make per year doing so.... I personally make 209k a year working as a contractor in Iraq....

I "work" for free. I have my own financial resources. Our bills are paid and that's all that counts.

My husband makes about that working as a contractor in Afghanistan. I make zero, because his income allows me to stay home, watch t.v. and eat bon bon's all day.
Seriously though, I make whatever the small livestock farming opperation we have brings in each year and by the time we factor in expenses I have a negative income. Is that even possible?
Thanks for helping out our soldiers over there!!!

I was there myself in 91, but did not make that kind of money on an E-4 paycheck! Reason I would not go for that kind of money.

My goal is to finally get out of the $30-40k bracket before I reach 30.
I guess it's all perspective, because when I was younger, I made a lot less and I did a lot more.
Then again, my standards were lower (bean bag chairs & tea + ramen for dinner) and I didn't have retirement or elder family care worries.

30-40 while in the 20's is repectable. I made 0 in most of my 20's as I was a student (but never ate ramen, although knew many that lived on it ;) ). Did like the Papa John's you could live on for 3 days though.

Haha, Papa John's is good--but it's really expensive these days! Well, I only have a few more years left in my 20s, so then what'll my excuse be to have a tiny 401(k) and little to no savings?
I've foolishly gone back to school for a masters now, because it seems I'm not one of the lucky ones to get promotions without the paper degree. Only this time, I have no drunken roommates, no partying neighbors and a full-time job. Being an adult student isn't so bad. ;)

Papa Johns was so close to the campus I attended. My dorm roommate had a girlfriend that worked there so we got some NICE discounts. Cheaper for us than grocery shopping. Pizza was always good when I was 21-24 (went in the military before college), day after day...
Not foolish in any way getting a Master's. The 2 years will fly by and you will be thankful later you did.
I too have little savings anymore. In 05 I used majority of my savings to buy a home. Granted the savings were gone, but I look now for the rest of my life I have a deed and can save as well - No mortgage interest and only pay property taxes and homeowner's insurance.

You're miles ahead of me! You bought a house. It's not the house that impresses me, it's the fact that you figured out where you want to be for long enough that you bought a house there.
I can't even live in the same city for 1 year without getting antsy.

He sighed... I don't think he brings in six figures personally. It's like when I was 16 and worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier... I made (Wal-Mart) six figures per year, but I was paid a dollar and a half more than minimum wage!

make could be gross, earn could be taxable net after business expense deductions
make could be wages plus passive income (interest, capital gains, RE), earn could be earned income (wages)
