Full Version: Sallie Mae Late History after 7 years?
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

I have disputed some late payment history that is reporting on my report by sallie mae. The date of last activity was 09/2002. So 7 years has passed and this late payment history is still being reported to the bureaus. I understand that the loan will remain for 10 years but the negative info should be removed after 7 ....right?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Typically, yes. But updates on SL's can take as long as three months to circulate through.

Ive just heard that it will be 7 years +180 days after the date of last activity....does anyone else have any input on this subject.

That applies to accounts that have been charged off, I believe. You are only looking at a late payment history ready to drop, correct?

So if the DOLA is 9/2002 -- what happened to the balance owing at that time? Or was that when they were paid off?

They were transferred, they are in good standing with balances owed. They are listed twice on my credit report...because they were transferred to another lender. A little brief history here: The loans had gone into default a couple of years ago. I got them out of default, rehabbed, and they have been okay ever since. I just want that late payment history removed from my report, because it is listing about 80 lates! There were 9 loans and they have a years worth of lates for each loan.

The lates should be falling off any day now.
