First off, this is my first post on this board so I am a newbie...Secondly, I searched this forum and couldn't find a similar story so I thought I would share it. Through work, we are able to get checking accounts at Chase. I already had a checking account but the Chase account had better "perks". So I applied. I was denied. When I pushed I was told "something in my Chexsystems account". So I got my Chexsystems information. Nothing in it. Blank. I called Chexsystems and they told me....nothing in it. When I called the lady back at Chase again, she reminded me about "my Chexsystems account". When I told her I had my report in my hand and that there was nothing in it and that Chexsystems had even told me so, all I got was stunned silence. No response. I since switched to BofA and am pretty happy. I thought I'd share it. Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks for reading. Seemed like a game.

It was probably something on EWS, and they may just be getting a denial code assuming it is chexsystems. Have you checked your EWS report yet?

Hate to sound like a noob...what is an EWS report?

Early Warning Systems ( previously Primary Payment Systems ) is now being used by banks and credit unions the same as chexsystems. Along with other participating organizations, they now share information about potential customers that may be a risk through Identity Check . Identity check distinguishes high-risk individuals from profitable customers the same as chexsystems.

Several organizations have partnered with Early Warning Services to help increase awareness and make the following services more accessible to credit unions. Here is a list of partners they are in collaboration with currently. As you can see this includes many, many credit unions that were once chex-friendly. CO-OP Financial Services who is listed as a partner with EWS also signed a multi-year contract with eFunds Corp(chexsystems) April 2007. Many people that are reported to chexsystems are also reported to EWS.

EWS meets the FCRA definition of a credit reporting agency. Send a dispute letter - certified, return receipt disputing what is in their database. They must investigate and verify with the bank or credit union as to what they are reporting. They have 30 days to respond.

Those wishing to obtain consumer report information should contact their Consumer Call Center at 800-325-7775. From what I have been told it is much easier to get a copy of your report with EWS than it is with Chexsystems. Apparently they will email you a form that you can mail or fax back to them. From what I have been able to tell, if you are reported to chexsystems then chances are good that you are reported to EWS. This seems especially true of those that have a Chexsystems report that has fraud indicated on it

Early Warning Services is a limited liability company owned by Bank of America, BB&T Corporation, JPMorgan Chase, Wachovia, and Wells Fargo.

Ok, so I called EWS...Gave him my SSN and last name and guess what? They have no information on me.
Is it odd that they would just give me that information over the phone? Chase never ran my credit either, so what gives? Nothing on Chexsystems or EWS? Very odd.

I do know that Chase also runs a credit report and that many people are turned down over credit issues not chexsystems..EWS does A LOT of things that they shouldn't do, they are a nightmare
