Long story short ...

There is an item on my Chex system report that is from July 2004. I have read in various forum posts that Chex reports for 5 years only.

Is it likely that this item will disappear on its own? Or will I have to dispute it off? If Chex is really good about removing items after 5 years, when do the items usually disappear? 5 years from the day? from the end of the month ending 5 years? any ideas?

Is there a chance of 'waking the sleeping giant' by requesting my Chex report? I'd hate that Chex would pass along my new address ...

Please help me out on this one...

TIA

Thanks! Any idea on the timing???

Most people are actually not removed from chexsystems after the 5 years period without requesting it

*sigh*

Thanks for the info Mary ... I ordered my Chex report online. With any luck, it will be clean - but if not, I will dispute is ASAP as it will be over 5 years without any doubt in a few days.

I never had to request and it was removed with no problem.

We will see what the report shows when I receive it ... but I have more information about reporting, and disputing thanks to this forum. Thanks!

Mine also fell off after 5 years without any action from me. Additionally I was happy to see that even though I had settled the account with a CA earlier this year and the report had been updated to include this, it still fell off from years from when it was originally reported to Chex. I hope you have similar results. :flowers:
