Full Version: Questions on Federal PLUS and private loans

I'm reading here on the boards that the Federal PLUS loan does not check your credit score. The instructions from my daughter's college say the Federal PLUS loans check "borrower credit history" - isn't that a credit score? My score is only 600-640 depending on which CRA they check. Will I qualify?

Recommendations for sources for private loans? The school recommends PNC (never heard of them), Citi (I was successfully sued by Citibank years ago (and paid them in full) so I think I want to avoid them) and Discover (never had anything to do with Discover, but hear so many horror stories...).

Thanks for any advice.

Federal PLUS loans ARE credit based...always have been. However, if you apply and are denied, your daughter becomes eligible for extra unsub loans.
