I sent WHYCHAT"S pre hippa letter to the CRA that was listing two small medical collections, instead of getting the requested information back they just deleted the collections entirely.

Is this common? Should i consider this the end of the matter or should i be on the look out for further collection attempts?

congrats! looks like you nipped it in the bud smile.gif

does any one know if unconscionably expensive vet bills (balance now under 100) are considered medical collections/ hippa eligible?

Congrats.. I'm currently consulting my lawyer regarding violations to hipaa laws, and FCRA/FCRPA Etc. I just faxed them the supporting documents. Though from what I gathered from him, I have a pretty good case against them. smile.gif

Vet bills are for the most part considered ordinary goods and services. The HIPAA law does not cover animals. You may have some recourse through state regulators in case of overcharging or malpractice by a vet.

Yes it is common, yes that is the end of the matter, HOWEVER, keep copies of your correspondence and your credit reports for at least 3 years just in case the CA sells the account to another garbage CA.

If you get any dunning letters from ANY CA on these collection accounts, send them the medical DV.

It would also be appreciated if you could ask the mods to transfer this post to the medical accounts forum where it belongs.

Remember, HIPAA doesn't have ANY private cause of action...
