I have three accounts with Chexsystems. One I believe the bank doesn't exist anymore. It was a small bank inside Kroger where I live in Georgia. The second is Bank of America, which I can pay back but I have been holding out because I have been told I still would not be able to get an account even if I did. The third account is a Wells Fargo account where I have been in dispute now for 2 years. About 2 years ago, I had an account that went negative due to an error and I had to put them off for one month till I got my next paycheck. A few days before I was to go pay the charges, they called my house. My roommate at the time (who had no knowledge of the account) answered the phone. At that time the agent proceeded to tell him all sorts of personal information and insisted that I had arranged for that roommate to pay the charges. I have been disputing the charges since then under the fact that they broke the law when they gave him the information. No progress has been made with the bank or the BBB and I don't seem to have a case interesting enough for an attorney.

Is there a bank that I can get an account with in Oregon? My employer does not do direct deposit and I need one where a physical location would be available. I have been without an account for a year and lost $144 in check cashing fees from BofA . I would rather not lose any more money over this.

Thanks!

Well you are correct, paying it off will not remove you from chexsystems. Options really depend on where you are in OR. What is your zip code there? I have found very few banks in OR that do not use chexsystems. Most of them do and will require the report to show as paid and not indicate fraud for a second chance account.

for ATM information go to

You may need to verify at the branch that they do have the deposit capabilities. Okay I called Fidelity and apparently most of the investment centers have what they call ....ADMs (Automatic Deposit Machines) where you can deposit any check made out to Fidelity or to you and they will be posted to your account.

If there is not an Investment Center local to you that has an ADM, they will send out pre-paid envelopes to mail in your deposits.

THE BEST THING IS THAT THERE ARE NO ATM FEES .. THEY ARE CREDITED BACK IN A FEW DAYS

The Visa Gold Check Card1 gives you access to the cash in your Fidelity account at merchants and ATMs worldwide, wherever Visa is accepted.

We realize there are many different investment companies and we appreciate your interest in Fidelity. You are able to simply open a mySmart Cash Account and not be required to open a brokerage account. To learn more and/or set up a mySmart Cash Account, please access the link below.

If you’re not yet a Fidelity customer, please download a mail-in application: mySmart Cash Account Individual or Joint registration (PDF). You can just open the account by mail as well without having going through the hassle of opening an brokerage account then opening the checking. Here's the link to the mail-in app so you can just get the smart cash account without opening a brokerage.

If you choose to open online and not through the mail, you will have to open the brokerage account first but you DO NOT have to fund it.

I'm also in Oregon - my zip is 97229. Any options that you know of? I already have a joint checking account with my hubby at BofA. One of us needs to get an individal checking account. Hubby applied for another account at BofA- denied due to Chex. I applied - denied with no reason given.

In Oregon, I might be able to suggest a credit union depending on what counties that you live and work in. But there is also a Fidelity Investment Center there as well so you may want to get a MYSmart Cash account.
