Someone posted here a while ago about a Ticketmaster agent with ID required signage posted. After a long delay, I went to one of the grocery stores in my area that is a Ticketmaster agent. Sure enough, there was a letter-sized paper on Ticketmaster letterhead posted on the wall beside the customer service counter stating the Ticketmaster policies, one being ID is required for all credit card transactions and fraud will be prosecuted to the fullest excent of the law, or some such language. I asked one of the managers in the store about the policy, and the manager was unaware of this policy, read the posted Ticketmaster signage, and said they never IDed anyone for using a credit card, have been handling Ticketmaster for a long time (??), and haven't had any problems. The manager agreed with my theory that if someone was using a stolen card, they would simply go online and not visit the store for tickets.

Completely prohibited and outrageous! Merchants cannot make ID a condition of acceptance. Immediately call 1-800-VISA-911. Make sure that sign comes down and they never ask for ID again.

Never show ID for credit card purchases.

No ID required for credit card purchases. Merchants cannot require ID.

If a merchant tries to require ID, immediately call 1-800-VISA-911 to ensure they never do again.

VISA: 1-800-VISA-911
MasterCard: 1-800-300-3069

Also easily report merchant violations online:

http://www.mastercard.com/us/personal/en/c...violations.html

Check the box that says "Merchant required ID"

Never show ID for credit card purchases.

No ID required for credit card purchases.

Make sure your community is 100% violation-free. smile.gif

This grocery store isn't going to ID you signed card or unsigned card; they don't care. I think they'd even let your dog walk in and pay for an item if the dog had the credit card in its mouth.

I have seen this (Not in my location) on the news program, dog pay the merchant with the Credit/debit Card and cash. The handicap person was with the dog.
