I had a student loan through UMASS from back in 1997 that I unfortunately went delinquent on. I was NOT aware of the rehab process or that it even existed. I was scared into paying the collection agency in order to not have my income taxes garnished, and had made 6 consecutive payments to them before finding the Credit Boards. So after much reading here I decided to call the school who supplied me w/the loan and ask them if there was anything I could do to rehab my loan now because it would be paid off in 4 more payments and I didn't want my credit report to just say Paid Collection/Closed. They were very accomadating and said since there were only 4 more payments left to continue paying the collection department till the 2nd to last month and call back for a final balance to just send directly to the college, then they would consider it fully rehabbed. So I followed through with all that, sent out my final balance 2 weeks ago and called today to verify that it had been rehabbed. The loan department told me my loan was completed in the rehab and it would update on my credit report at the end of the month when they do their updating! YAY!!

Does anyone know if this will even cause a score increase? My Fakos are very low and last time I checked FICO Ex was only 570 so I'm hoping this will push me at least a few points!!
