Excellent story line, very entertaining and yanked my heart strings in all the right places. There were some very powerful messages in that movie.

The Wizard of Oz
Why? Simply because it passes the test of time and attempts at remakes(revisions).. It crosses all ages, genders and cultures capturing the innosense of fantasy and childhood. The black and white to color surprised and delighted even the most hardened critics. The movie, while different from the book, took you on a journey that ultimately reinforced what we all know to be true "There's no place like home"

The Jerk
It's hard to narrow it down to just one reason why, but it's probably because of the scene where Navin is getting shot at and he think it's the cans that the nutjob hates.

Well I would have to go with a movie I can watch whenever it is on and that is The Christmas Story. It is funny and a classic.
Bladerunner, a movie about the future (2019) where the wealthy and powerful live high above the sub-prime masses below.

Goodfellas because it just flowed from the beginning credits and built to a crescendo ending all the time keeping you glued to the screen. Scorcese can't be beat!

Laura (1944)
Because I love film noir, and this is one of the best all the way around - performances, photography, story, even soundtrack.
Plot: A New York police detective Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews) investigates the murder of a beautiful advertising director named Laura Hunt (Gene Tierney), and through her friends and letters, falls in love with her portrait and memory.
Clifton Webb plays the acid-tongued columnist Waldo Lydecker, who had become her mentor, and Vincent Price plays Shelby Carpenter, her callous but charming fiance. Judith Anderson plays Ann Treadwell, Laura's grasping aunt. Directed by Otto Preminger.

Wedding Banquet!
It's a 1993 movie set in New York City that involves two gay guys. One of whom has nagging parents in China anxious to see their son married, not knowing he is already in a relationship that his parents wouldn't approve of. So he arranges to marry one of his tenants so that she can get her green card, and his parents will be satisfied... but then mom & dad come to the states to throw a traditional Chinese wedding banquet.
I am a 37 year old white female, in a straight marriage, but from the minute I saw this movie newly released in 1993, it has been my favorite!

Demolition Man.

It's futuristic, it's funny, a little bit romantic...and stuff blows up.
So many to chose from...
My choice would be Secondhand Lions.
Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, Haley Joel Osment.
A movie packed with entertaining twists and turns. It is about two men who lived their lives by doing things most people could only dream of doing. As they aged they had become shells of their former selves. When their emotionally scarred great-nephew was dumped on them the great-uncles learned to live again.
A quote from the movie by Hub (Robert Duvall): Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.

I agree with Chi about Second Hand Lions. That movie really touched me, and the quote posted is one of my favorites. I think part of the reason I also love this movie so much is that I didn't think I would like it at all!
But to pick something different, I thoroughly enjoyed Love Actually. I like how they tied so many stories into one.
