I was in the hospital, emergency room, about a year ago. It was one visit but they did itemize it to show the cost of seeing the doctor and his associate. Anyway I recieved a collection letter from AR resources for the total amount due 1200. However they are listing it on my credit report as 4 different collection accounts. Is this legal. It was one visit an although itemized it was all for the same thing. Also the bill AR sent me wasnt itemized. I also think I got double charged on one from the hospital, although I guess that is a completely different matter. Thank in advance for any help yuou cna give me.

Take it from a Mom of three active boys...

One simple ER visit can result in six different bills for six different procedures or services.

Have you contacted the hospital to get copies of the itemized bills? That may help sort out the confusion.

i have the itemized bill. It was all from the same doctor all for the same injury, all for the same doctor. It is itemized, however my question is can the collection agency post 4 collections on my Credit Reports for one visit to the hospital. Seems to me there should be only hit on my CR for the total of the bill.

I agree. I'd dispute and ask for validation. Did the hospital say anything about them going to collections via four different entries?

No it is bs. I was just looking over the bill too and they double charged me 318. Both have the exact same description for the charge.

I had the same thing happen, and was able to clear it up using Why Chat's process. A lot of people on this forum have had success using his method. Here is a quote I saved from another post, and I've followed it myself. I've had 15+ accounts removed (5 incorrect collections reporting on all 3 reports).

The HIPAA letter program is easy to use. There are no "guaranteed" results, however I DO guarantee that if you accept the "offer" from the CA you are GUARANTEED to have the account AT BEST show as a "paid" collection, which is just as bad as an unpaid one, and at WORST, the "unpaid balance" will be resold to another bottom feeding CA who will report the "new" balance on your reports and further hurt your credit. It is more than likely that this CA is a "garbage" CA who has picked up this "balance" from written off and/or discounted account data and there is actually NOTHING owed to the hospital.
First you opt out to prevent further damage;
http://whychat.5u.com/OPTOUTINST.HTML
You start by PROPERLY disputing the account;
http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html

IF it is not deleted, you then send the CA this;
http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html

And then send the CRA this;
http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html#DISPUTE

IF they ( the CA) responds with complete and accurate account information FROM THE OC hospital, you can then pay the OC with the HIPAA letter insert "a".

It's important to follow it in this order to make it successful. I had many deletions simply by using the dispute letter to the CRAs. Good luck!
