Well, I am listed in chex due to BofA about 2 or 3 years ago. I have a new job and need/want to setup direct deposit. Unfortunately US bank is not local here. Citinational is not an option either. Is anyone aware of any locations that may have a second chance account or something that wants direct deposit as a requirement or something?
I tried a few banks on a list I found with no success at Stillwater National. I believe my credit is too bad for a credit union. I have applied at TTCU (where I have had a savings account for 7 or 8 years now) and Oklahoma Central Credit Union.

City National Bank and Trust is not an option? Where exactly do you live?

If your goal is to set up automatic deposit, and to have ready access to your money, using a Walmartmoneycard.com is an excellent choice. Here is how it works:

Walk in to any Walmart and purchase a Pre Paid debit card for $10.
Register it and get a personalized Debit Card sent to your home.
Go online and get the routing number and checking account number for Direct Deposit
Set up direct deposit
This will allow you to use your debit card and direct deposit anytime you like

I used this method prior to my signing up at a local bank (Compass Bank) which does not use Chex a month ago.

If in fact you find you need a temporary haven till you can get an account somewhere. The best available option available to anyone right now who needs an account available to anyone with direct deposit is the Money Manager card from Direct Benefits. Its an FDIC insured account through West Suburban Bank in Illinois with no monthly fee, no transaction fees, no customer service fees, no startup costs, and 100% free and unlimited ATM transactions at any Allpoint Network ATM nationwide.

There is one fee if you wish to use the 'pay anyone' billpay where they send a check to someone for you the cost is 50 cents each. Just above your own mailing costs. There is an overdraft fee but you'd have to work at overdraft because its not happening you can only spend whats in the account. Some other miscellaneous fees that I doubt anyone would run into unless you want a paper statement or use off network (non-allpoint) ATM's and such.

If you email them and request a card to be sent directly to you they'll send it although they normally deal with companies who then sign up groups of employees apparently.

http://www.moneymanagercard.com/pricing.php

They allow you to link to a savings account also and transfer funds at no fee between the accounts.

FDIC insured, no chexsystem check, no telecheck check, no credit pull, essentially no fees for normal usage, 35,000 ATM's nationwide, almost impossible to overdraft and checks for billpay to anyone at 50 cents apiece. I use it, it works.

All this is true of the walmartmoneycard.com. The big benefit is that the OP can drive to any Walmart, available by car in virtually any city of any size in the USA, purchase a card for less than $10.00, and have all these features with a total investment of $10.00 and ten minutes of time.

First you can only purchase a temporary card from a Walmart B&M location, the personalized card is mailed out within 2-3 weeks. The temporary card can't be reloaded beyond its initial load like a gift card.
You would know that if you ever actually had one as opposed to reading about it.

So as opposed to waiting for a completely free Moneymanager card in the mail you must pay $8.94 for a non personalized Walmart moneycard, load funds on it (the card is only loadable the one time) after driving to the Walmart and THEN wait for the personalized card to come in the mail.

Second you are wrong about 'all this is true of the walmartmoneycard.com'.

Walmart has a $1.95 fee for use at any ATM and further since they own no ATM's nor have any agreement with an ATM provider there is a surcharge by the ATM owner making withdrawal of funds an expensive proposition at an ATM. If you go to a store and wait in line to purchase something and want up to $100 cash back there is no fee. If you need a higher amount of cash or the convenience of an ATM transaction then this card is not for you. Even the smallest local bank has some fee free ATM's. Even if Walmart in the future develops an ATM network within the stores I can't see going into a busy crowded Walmart parking lot and store just to withdraw funds. Much more convenient to use one of 35,000 free ATM's imo ymmv.

So 10 ATM withdrawals with the Walmart card in a month costs about $40 versus $0 for Moneymanager.

Walmart has a $4.94 a month fee and a $2 fee for every customer service call if you don't deposit $1,000 a month on the card. Not a problem in general.

Walmart has no billpay/send a check to anyone feature.

Moneymanager allows free money transfers between the card and a savings account in effect adding a debit card to a savings account.

I can only laugh at this, sorry. I have two active Walmart Money cards, and one of them regularly receives my paycheck via its routing number and checking account number. I reload my Walmart money card weekly at no cost, I have no service fees. I never said anything about the ATM fees, you might want to re read my posts.

You're way off base, but that's OK with me biggrin.gif

Because I needed to change my debit card number with one of my merchants, I just purchases another Walmartmoneycard yesterday. Total time from the moment I purchased it to the time I had a working debit card: five minutes.

What is this about three weeks? It took me five minutes. If it is taking anyone three weeks then they really need to think about their ability to read and follow directions...

City National Bank located in the Walmart in Guthrie does not check checksystems.

When you said 'all this is true of the walmartmoneycard' you said that in reference to my statement which included '35,000 completely free ATM's for the Moneymanager card'. So you were wrong.

They print up a personalized reloadable debit card for you at a Walmart store?

Please read the website. Can you see where the temporary card you buy in the store for $8.94 is only loadable ONCE? So you are getting direct deposit on a card that is only loadable once? Geez.

Anyone ever get their credit or debit card anywhere with there name on it right on the spot?

I'm sure you'll answer this with some double talk but for everyone that can read the very clear website they can make their own mind as to how it really works.

Here from the Walmartmoneycard website (see if you can read this):

https://www.walmartmoneycard.com/AcctMgmt/C...t/Products.aspx

Instant use Temporary Visa Card in package. Activate with one easy call.*

The one-time load to a Temporary Card may be made only at a participating Wal-Mart store through the Green Dot Financial Network in a minimum amount of $20, and a maximum of $500 (or $1,500 if you received the Temporary Card when you cashed a check at Wal-Mart). A Temporary Card is non-reloadable. You must activate the Temporary Card and choose a Personal Identification Number (“PIN”), either by going online to www.walmartmoneycard.com or by calling toll-free (877) 965-7848. You must have both your Temporary Card and receipt with you when you call to activate or for any refunds. After you activate your Temporary Card and we have verified your identity and confirmed that you are at least 16 years of age, we will send you a Personalized Card in the mail. If we are unable to verify your identity or confirm that you are at least 16 years of age, you will not receive a Personalized Card. We will return to you the amount loaded on the Temporary Card and any fees you paid or, at our option, allow you to use the Temporary Card until the balance on the card is zero.

I just purchased a new Walmartmoneycard yesterday. Within five minutes of my purchase I had a usable, activated, VISA debit card. At the time of purchase I placed $150.00 on the card, and it was immediately usable. Additionally, I have a routing number and a checking account number for the new card, for which I set up direct deposit from my employer.

If the OP wants to accomplish this same thing, as per the original post, then it will require a visit to any Walmart in the USA and five minutes on the telephone to accomplish the same thing I did in five minutes..just yesterday.

Well when that $150 runs out and you have to buy another one let us know how that goes.
