I read today that if you open a checking account in a "in store" (like in safeway or albetson's) that they will not care about you being in ChexSystems.
Anyone know if this is currently correct?

There are some " in store " locations that allow those reported to chxsystems to open accounts. There are even some that have signs stating so. CA seems to have the most. Where do you live?

In seattle, I found one in an Albertson's a few blocks from me.
I have a NSF from BoA on my chexsystems from 05, that is it.

I would definitely give them a try. Might be worth calling first and talking to the branch manager there before you go in. Tell them your situation and tell them that you have heard that they might be able to help you. Most of the time I suggest 1st Security Bank in WA for those reported to chexsystems. They do not use chexsystems, they only use Telecheck.

I believe that their are two types of " offenses " entered into Chex: one is considered far worse than the other. I don't understand the distinction, but the worse of the two is categorized as " account abuse ".
I believe US Bank has forgiven the lesser of the two offenses in certain situations, but mca might know the industry terms for each of them. They also have some sort of a cut off related to the amount reported. If it is over XXX dollars they can't override it. I don't recall the specifics, but this might help your search.

I just got a checking account at a US Bank location inside of Vons in Mira Loma, CA. 50.00 minimum to start & Chexsystems must not show "account abuse" or "Fraud". It was quick and painless-thanks to everyone!
