I have a Chexsystems entry for US Bank for " account abuse " from late 2005. Will that come off automatically at 3 years? I have tried a basic dispute, to no avail.

Will it stay for 3 or 5 years if I do not get it removed by disputing? Must I dispute it as obsolete in oder to get it removed?

Chexsystems is a credit reporting agency. They have the right to report you for 7 years. it is their decision to remove after 5 instead. If you have not been removed after 5 years, you can send in a letter requesting that they do so.

There is no guarantee for removal frm chexsystems. With that said, there are many people that do dispute and are able to be removed. US Bank is a hard one when attempting removal. There is information and sample dispute letters on my site that may help you

Thanks. I tried a simple dispute a while ago, but with no deletions. So I'll try your letters. Additionally, I received a brochure at my place of employment from Compass Bank, which has " We do not use Chexsystems " plastered all over it. So next week I'll give them a visit and see what happens. Any idea what CR they might pull, or what they might look for in that pull?

I am not certain on what credit report that they use but I do know that they use EWS. Most people (not all) that have been reported to chexsystems also have been reported to EWS. If this is your case as well, do not apply for Compass.

COMPASS BANK

Special Notes:

They use Telecheck and a credit report
-THEY DO NOT use CHEXSYSTEMS

Email below:

We do verify through Tele Checks and we do a credit inquiry. You will also need to have 2 forms of ID to open a new accounts Message from Compass Web.

When we process a checking account we check Telecheck and also do a
credit check. If you are approved through either one we can open a
Compass Free Checking account for you. IF you are turned down through
both systems we still can offer you our Basic Checking Account. IT does
have a $5 monthly service charge, but you still get a free check card
with the accounts. If you would like to apply you can call
1-800-Compass
and we can do everything over the phone.
but please note:

We’re glad you have decided to apply for a new checking account with Compass Bank. This online account application should take you 5-10 minutes to complete and will save you 45 minutes (or more) when you visit a branch. As the last step of this process, you will need to visit a Compass Bank branch so we can confirm your identity.

PLEASE NOT THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMBEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BANK ABOUT THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES THE BANK USES

********PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BANK NOW USES EWS. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TURNED DOWN DUE TO EWS, DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS ACCOUNT BEFORE SEEING IF YOU HAVE A REPORT ON EWS ********

OK, thanks. So is there a direct connection between EWS and Telecheck? Your post mentions both, in two different ways.
mca
no, there is no connection with Telecheck and EWS. Compass uses both Telecheck and EWS. ALl I was saying is that the majority of people that have been reported to chexsystems, also have negative reports with EWS
