Hello to all. The help on this site is phenomenal. I am making good progress on fixing my CR issues but I am not sure what way to handle the medical collections I have. One is for a $10 copay so I contacted them 2 weeks ago asking to have it removed after paying. Of course with that small amount they were only willing to mark as paid and not remove it. I took no further action because of this so it is still owed. The other is for $300 when I did not have health insurance for a 2 month span. I pretty much do not know if I should pay it or not, and then proceed after paying. I would be willing to pay it in full if it would ease the process of removing the info completely from my report. Can anyone help me with the way in which I should handle this? I don't even know where to start and I don't want to take any action before getting advice from all of you knowledgeable people on here. I appreciate any help anyone can give. Thank you in advance.

I'm bumping this for WhyChat to see.

I am pretty sure I know what he'll tell you, but just in case. smile.gif

Thank you. I will check out the link. At this time, the only means of internet access is my cell phone which doesn't allow me to use the search bar. I have to look at individual threads which takes FOREVER smile.gif If I could search it would be great but unfortunately I can't. Posting links is very helpful to me. Im still on my 3rd day searching for the contact numbers or websites to delete old addresses and name variations LOL. Thanks again.

I see...not having the search bar would make things pretty difficult!

Here's the link where I got the CRA addresses. All of them worked for me.

http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=3042875

Here's a copy-paste if that's easier.

TransUnion Consumer Relations
P O BOX 2000
Chester, PA 19022-2000

Equifax Credit Information Services, Inc,
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374

Experian
701 EXPERIAN PARKWAY,
PO BOX 2002,
ALLEN, TX 75013

It took me forever to find myself (even by using the search bar) but it turns out it's pinned in the "Where Can I Find?" forum-which does NOT show up in the list of "creditboards main forums", which is probably why I kept overlooking it.

Hang in there! It's a weird ride but never boring.

Oh, sorry, this slipped my mind!

The lady at the post office said the real zip code for Chester, PA is 19013, so I changed it on my envelope and scribbled out the "-2000" part. The CM letter got there okay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me! Posting the addresses saved me hours of searching I'm sure. My phone is a PPC which does make typing easier at least but the search button doesn't act as an actual "button", I push it and it doesn't do anything. I found a posting earlier where someone was getting nowhere with experian I believe... as far as deleting their old addresses. They included their letter that finally got a response which had reference to the FCRA etc and it worked for them. I'm thinking of using the same letter. As far as the medical bills... I'm hoping Whychat gets a chance to give advice. I'm leaning toward just paying them with his method to the original CO. It's only $310 for both which isn't cheap... but worth it if it helps removal. Thanks again for everything!!!

Delete old or incorrect addresses IF POSSIBLE

Send any CRA where any MEDICAL accounts are appearing this;

http://whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html
You can list all medical accounts in the order they appear ON THAT REPORT that you are disputing.

If any medical account is NOT deleted ( give it 30-35 days)and you have NOT received any account data from the reporting CA, send the reporting CA this;

IF the reporting CA sends you written proof and account data on the account they are reporting and it matches your records, you can pay the OC ( original creditor) health care provider directly with the HIPAA letter insert "a".

How long ago were these medical visits??

Thanks for replying Whychat! I opted out by phone 2 days ago. Both of the medicals are between 2-3 years old. Does the age of these two debts affect how to proceed with them? Thank you again smile.gif

Not really, however you should certainly dispute the accounts first BEFORE even considering paying them as the reporting CA may have had no actual assignment of the account, and the account may be invalid.

Have you ever received anything directly from the OC?? Any bill or account statement??

I did receive letters from the original COs in the past. One is a hospital and one was a copay at a specialist.

Use the program as suggested, do NOT "skip" any steps.

Thanks for all your help Whychat. I will proceed with everything exactly how you stated. I have opted out and I will be sending letters to all CRAs requesting old address deletes tomorrow. So it will be awhile before I can proceed further until the address request results come back. I'm assuming this may take a month in itself. I'll post any updates along the way. Thank you again.
