Anyone tried a checking account at a brokerage firm? Do they pull Chex & your credit report?
I have an IRA account at a local bank, they didn't pull a thing when I opened it. If I use this bank for check cashing & they ask if I have an account, I respond yes, an IRA. Have yet to have a teller look it up before cashing anything.

Schwab pulled EQ and chex when I applied.

Franklin Templeton and Capital One both have money market accounts and they will not run chexsystems for these accounts only.

Thanks, I was thinking of Schwab. Had an account with Strong awhile back and they never pulled a thing. Strong honked me off so I left.

I heard some rumblings about Franklin awhile back. With so many brokerages in bad shape I am careful.
Cap one I am just going to avoid like the plague!

Edward Jones has a money market that earn interest. They pull EQ and it does cost $40.00 per year, unlimited check writing and no fee Debit Card. The bad thing is 5 day business hold on deposit unless Direct Deposit or wires.

Since posting this, the market has tanked so I'm glad I didn't opt for this one! There is an Edward Jones nearby so when things settle down in the markets I may check that idea out.
