Hello everyone,

I have been doing some serious credit repairs. I have managed to have other baddies removed but i need some advice on what to do about a charged off/student loan which I am not even sure if it was a student loan or pell grant. But it list as a loan. And when I go on the website it showed up as a grant. All of my loans I thought where consolidated, but this one may very well slipped through. However, it is paid off because they took my income taxes one year and it paid it off. Can this be removed if so what do I need to send and to whom? Or do I have to wait for the 7yrs to slowly creep by?

Thanks in advance

I don't believe there is a legitmate way for this to be "removed" from your credit report. You could dispute the charge to the credit bureau and then the debtor would have to provide proof of debt. (Many times, they won't bother if the debt is paid.)

Otherwise, it takes seven years just like any other bad credit ding. The impact to your credit score fades quickly after two years though and shouldn't cause you any longer term strife with obtaining credit.

Congratulations on killing the debt!
