I received a report from Chex Systems. (I guess I requested this, I know I intended to request it, but I've forgotten actually doing it.) Anyway, the report came and contains the one item in there that I expected and intend to dispute, as it was based on two stolen debit card transactions.
Now, what I didn't expect was a letter from Chex Systems acknowledging that they had made an error and associated my social security number with other accounts, which they assure has now been corrected.
There is some statement that I can request more information about that, "if [I] want".
They provided no other explanation as to what the mix-up entailed. I'm not sure what this means. Identity theft? Legitimate error? Nor am I sure what the ramifications are.
I'm also not certain that this is even accurate: they provided two letters, one with the "potential for a mix-up" followed the next day by "there was a mix-up, but we fixed it".
Lastly, the pertinent information I was looking for was on the back of this letter. On the next page (front side), it appears that I have a perfectly clean Chex recored because of the way the pertinent information was placed on the back of the first page at the top.
So, my question to you all is: Has anyone ever received a letter like this? Also, is it standard for Chex to print the "bad" record on the back page?
Thanks,
Cesca
