Hi,

I usually post in the credit forum but have a question I think is specific to this forum. If not, please let me know.

Hubby was denied an account with another credit union because, surprise to us, he has something on his chex. It's paid, and I am working on getting it removed, but in the meantime would like him to join Penfed. Does anyone know if he can if he has something in chex?

Thank you in advance for any information.

PS - sorry for typo in subject!

They do not use chexsystems but it is next to almost impossible to be approved for a checking with them unless your credit is perfect. They will allow anyone to open a savings.

Thank you for contacting Pentagon Federal Credit Union.
Anytime a new account is requested, PFCU obtains a credit report on the
individual requesting the account.  We primarily use Equifax for credit
reporting.
If you need further assistance, please contact us.

If one opens a savings, is one still allowed to apply for credit cards and loans? Or is it ONLY for those with checking?

(This question can also be applied to any CU, I guess)

Thanks. I really appreciate that terrific list you offered.

You can apply for credit products once you have a share (savings) account.
