I have a MAJOR dilemma and I am hoping that someone here can help me. I have 5 medical collections. I have read whychat's HIPAA process, but here is the problem. I work for the OC. We were bought out by them 2 years ago.

I plan on paying these collections within the next couple of months, but I don't know how to get them removed from my credit report. I called and spoke with employee billing, but they refuse to pull the accounts out of collections. I can't send the HIPAA letter to the OC for fear of losing my job. I will send the PRE-HIPAA letter as soon as I pay the debts, but where do I go from there if the 1st letter doesn't work? I would really love to buy a home in the next couple of years, but my scores are trashed from these collections. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

By the way, I did send the CA a total of $100 so far (Big Mistake, I know). I did that before I found out about the whole HIPAA thing. Is that going to hurt me?

You need to make friends in that department. Not phone calls, start inviting people to lunch. Boxes of donuts can work wonders too.

Somebody there has the ability and authority to tell you, "We shouldn't do this, but . . ."

I would still use the Hippa Process, the first steps have nothing to do with the OC at all. There are many people who report, myself include deletions after step 3.
The CA who are reporting these debts on your CR may not even have a legal right to collect on them, that is what part on the Pre HIPPA dispute with the CRAs will tell you.
The debt could have been written off by the OC therefore the CA even if they at once time had a legal right to collect, once the debt was written off by the OC they shouldn't have a CA trying to collect on it- No double dipping!

Don't pay the debt first- Send the Pre HIPPA Dispute First
Is the OC a hospital? When was the date of Service for these?

1) You need to opt out. Goto this website and optout, or 1-888-567-8688.

2) Dispute any old addresses with the CRA's.

3) Send the pre-hipaa dispute letter to each CRA. Whychat has the exact template to use here

See what the investigation brings from the Pre HIPPA dispute with the CRA and then take it from there-
Find this post and ask for further assistance.

You do NOT need to pay them to get them deleted, you do NOT need to use the HIPAA letter to your employer but where do I go from there if the 1st letter doesn't work? I would really love to buy a home in the next couple of years, but my scores are trashed from these collections. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Follow the HIPAA letter program, you will NOT have to send the HIPAA letter to the OC ( your employer)
How old are these accounts??

Opt out
Delete old addresses
Send the medical dispute letter to the CRA's ( use a direct report from each CRA)list all your medical accounts, paid or not.

IF the accounts are fairly recent, and are FULLY VERIFIED by the reporting CA with accurate account data, then you can use a MODIFIED HIPAA letter to pay them directly to the hospital. Post back here ON THIS THREAD after you have received a response from the CRA's on your dispute and I will try to help you get these off your reports without risking your job.
