Received my report and I of course know I already owe BofA and USBank from a couple years ago. I would like to pay them, maybe get them to delete the negative, if possible.

I read about people "disputing" but why dispute if it is actually mine?

You might want to dispute if the information in the system is inaccurate. Accurate information is important. It's easier to correct inaccuracies as they arise rather than tackle inaccuracies that have piled up. Waiting to dispute inaccuracies after they pile up also causes one to look at the question begged and ask "Why are you disputing now, if you knew this info was wrong 5 months or 5 years ago, why didn't you dispute it then?"

If all the information is accurate and you have no disagreement/issue with what is reporting, then I don't know why you would dispute.

Paying off the debt to the banks will not remove you from chexsystems, If you are wanting to pay for deletion, make sure you get something in writing. They will lie and say they will remove but it never happens.

It is your right to dispute regardless of the debt being valid or not. It is not a question f knowing the debt is valid or not, it is making them prove that it is. Many have been able to be removed with this process even though the debt was theirs and the information reported was correct.

Good luck with that. Bank of A. doesn't want to even talk to me.

Anyone have any info on paying for deletion with Us bank or wells fargo?

I don't have any specific information on those banks, but if you are going to pay for deletion, make sure you get something in writing

I have notice a couple of people lately asking the same question over and over. "Why should i dispute if information is accurate?"
Well, the answer is that if you don't dispute then you will not be able to open a checking account for instance. Also, if you decided to pay the balance off, they will not remove the negative entry from your report. Other techniques for removing negative entries is "Pay for Delete" but it is against the law and doesn't work all the time.
So, it is all up to you, you have choices:
1- Don't pay and wait 7 years
2- pay and still keep negative entry in your report for 7 years
3- try PFD technique, and hope that it works, it worked for me one time only,
4- Dispute the entries. They lose, you win, although you really intended to pay them their money back...

Chexsystems info is only on for 5 years. Just thought I would add that.

Since when is "Pay for Delete" against the law? Isn't it the credit bureaus' discretion to regulate themselves within the law? I have not read anywhere in the FDCPA or FCRA that states that this is an illegal activity. I've had creditors and CRAs remove items upon request in the past. Could you provide us with an actual line of law on the books, or case law which gives an example of this not being allowed?

I never payed attention to what was on my CR until recently. I'm going to dispute a collections account here, and it's been on the report for 4 years. I don't think the time in which you dispute, based on the time the TL or account has been on your CR is valid.
Some people check their reports everyday, others might not check their report but once a year.
