Hi everyone,
Okay I'm in the process of filing Chapter 7 BK (going for the first official meeting with my lawyer next week) so I still have a ways to go.
But I am going to get a negative on my Chexsystem due to being over my line of credit on my US Bank checking account (3,000 read reserve, I'm over that now).
I'm trying to prepare myself. Should I after getting my bank account closed on me..
1. Cash my checks at a Payday place *gags*
2. Get one of those pre-paid credit cards.
Any other options as I will be NEWLY in deep trouble?
Also, right now my US Bank account is in the process of bouncing, at $8 a day. Is there anything I can do to close the account even tho I'm in the negative and stop the bouncing or should I just leave it alone and not do anything until I am officially filed and let the courts take care of it?
I'm confused and worried about what to do with that US Bank account.
Thanks guys.

There is really not a lot you can do with US Bank, they will close it and charge it off after 30 days. If you are doing a ch13 you may want a new account to have the payments taken out of for the bk itself. I would never use those pay day places or a pre-paid. There are always options. Depending on where you live of course unless you want a bank that will open an account for anyone regardless of where you live.

Thanks MCA,
I am filing for Chapter 7, at least the lawyer said so far that I can because I make way below the medium and I am currently unemployed (have been since June) although I got a paycheck through June.
So I can find certain credit unions that will accept me so soon after the BK?

It depends on where you live but yes there are banks and credit unions that do not use chexsystems and others that will make exceptions. Where do you live? My list is located on my site below under services. There is a Nationwide list at www.chexvictims.net

MCA,
Minnesota.
Not many options in MN from your list (I found your list before I even found these boards!)

Mary,
What about credit unions based only upon BK. My CHEX and my wifes' is clean now. We apllied for Nevada Federal credit union and were offered a new start checking account. We applied for the account online and we told them we are both clean on CHEX they kept referring to the BK7 discharged last month. Are there credit unions that will approve you for an account even if you have a BK? That you know of. Here in NV or I was thinking Pen Fed. We want to establish a relationship with a CU for their credit products. Obviously after the reports are cleaned up and new tradelines are established. What are your thoughts?

Blacknyx.... MN is what we call ChexSystems territory, there are even special laws in MN pertaining to chexsystems that are not in any other states. I am uncertain as to where you are in MN exactly but are you near either of these 2 locations?
Fidelity Investments Minneapolis Investor Center

Fidelity Investments Oakdale Investor Center

Fidelity does offer a checking account now. If you are not local to them, please email me so I can share a credit union that may help you that is not listed on my site due to worries that they would be swamped with new account applications

It was only my wife for Compass bank which has been deleted. I have never been reported to CHEX. As of the applying to NFCU we were both clean on CHEX, but I guess because of the BK they offered us a "new start" checking.

Must be because Navy Federal does not use chexsystems at all ...did you try TCF??... most everyone that applies there is approved.

I'm sorry I should have typed out again Nevada Federal Credit union, not Navvy Federal.I''m just kind of shocked they (Nevada Federal) is only offering me a "new start" checking account when I , nor my wife is CHEX at all. I guess they are offering it because of our CREDIT report, d/t a recently discharged BK Chapter 7
