Full Version: Wondering how to repay Student Loans
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans
BeatleMom
Hi all! I am new here, and could use some advice. I currently have VERY much overdue Federal Student Loan. I got paperwork today that they will offset my tax refunds, etc, even though they have been doing that for two years.

I would like to enter into repayment and get this cleared up. The balance is a little under $8000. I hadn't paid anything on it, honestly, I didn't even know who I should pay, since I didn't have any paperwork on the loan anymore.

The paperwork I received was from the Dept of Ed, and there was a phone number to call regarding repayment options. Honestly, I'm scared to death to call them. I cannot pay in full right now, and really can't afford exorbitant monthly payments, either.

Can anyone give me any advice, or tell me what I might expect when I contact them?

Thanks!

the DOE people are very nice and helpful. i would call them if I were you. and check into consolidation with Direct Loan Consolidation. They have the best repayment options. JUst make the call and put the stress behind you!
