(whoops - 2nd try - meant to put this here in the Student Loan Forum)

Hey there all,

I'm looking into returning to school in the Fall (in my 30s) to finish an undergraduate degree (with plans on continuing on to grad school). Live in MA and was considering the Harvard Extension School (cater to the older returning student). The way it works there is if you take 3 courses (B or above) you can then apply into their degree program (ALB - Bach Lib Arts). Talked to the Financial Aid office. No federal aid is available until you are admitted as a degree student.
There are many things I still have to research. But one question is if I take my 3 courses in the Fall and I'm admitted into the degree program for the Spring '09, can I get Federal aid for that semester (and if so when do I start the application process?) or can you not apply for federal aid mid-year?

Glad I found this site.

Thanks for any info.

You can apply any time of year. It won't be a problem. You should ask the financial aid office about when to submit your FAFSA and any other forms they require to meet their deadlines.
