Hi I decided to go back to school, so far I got financial aid to cover my part time schooing up untill winter quarter. I have small grant from the school, a subsidized loan and unsub loan. My question is my student loans right now are from Sallie Mae. I saw NFCU Credit Union offers Educations Loans that are also Federal Stafford Loans. Is if possible to appy for loans again through NFCU and get more money? I have Financial Aid to cover books, Fees, and Tuition so far. But since I'm going for a Web Designer degree I want a little extra money to cover my software. So it is possible. I don't want to go anywhere near private Loans for school. Does anyone have any other suggestions I can check out?

Thanks,

Clair

You are awarded your sub and unsub stafford loans based on your FAFSA application. You cannot just apply for it...you must be awarded the aid. What the credit union is offering is what you already have received from Sallie Mae. Check with your FA office to see if you can qualify for more although software should have already been included in your cost of attendance in with your book expense.

Hi Clair,

I second Lynn.. check with your Financial Aid Officer at your institution. All of that expense is usually considered in your books, tuition, and fees allotment.

Also, as you are a student, you may be able to get student licenses through your school, at considerably less expense. I was able to get several student licenses for about $50, installed on my PC, which normally cost $2000 +. I had to give some of them back after I left, but it might be just what you need while you're in school. A lot of institutions also have public computer stations with this software installed for student use... not as great as having it on your computer for whenever, but it is considerably less expensive for you.
