heres my story.
-i went for a med checkup in 6/07. i had insurance at the time and paid co-pay.
-i left for school on 8/07.
-sometime between 8/07 and 2/08, the doctors office wrote a letter saying that my insurance wouldnt pay and therefore i owed $.
-in 3/08 i found out about this and tried to do some research on it, but couldnt get far
-in 4/08 i just paid the balance.
-in 5/08 (now), i just saw that there was a collections posting on my credit report for this amount.
-i immediately called the doctors office, who told me that they sent it to collections in 2/08 (i didnt know). yet they happily took my money in 4/08 without telling me that there was a collections pending. now they are saying that they will tell the collections company that it is paid but that they cant do anything about it being on my credit report.
-i have record of payment in mid april (Credit card)
-i have tried calling the collections agency but no one ever picks up
-i was at school all year so i didnt receive any of these letters they supposedly sent.
what are my options? i desperately need this off of my credit report. i would prob even pay the amount twice - once again to the collections agency to get this off.
please help

sorry i am new to this. what does opting out achieve? from the research ive done, it means that my health information cannot be made public - is this right?
will opting out and sending the letter lead to the collection agency dropping my information from the credit report?
