I was hoping someone from expereince can answer a few questions for me.

I have 35,000 in student loans that I rehabbed back in December. They are with a lender now and are currently being deferred since I lost my job back in February. I was just wondering if it is possible to obtain student loans at this point to return to school since I am having no real luck finding work? Also if it is, do I contact the same lender my loans are with and apply through them or would I simply go through the schools financial aid program? And then finally, what would happen to the loans that I currently have outstanding. Would my option be to either begin paying them or keep them in deferment, or does something happen to the loans to postpone payment until I am finished with school?

Thanks for any feedback.

Since your loans are out of default, you should be eligible for federal aid again. You apply for federal loans by filling out a FAFSA and working with your school's financial aid office. As long as you go to school at least half-time, you should qualify for an in-school deferment on your current loans.

Saria's right. I rehabbed my loans in the past just so I could get them in good standing and get more financial aid. If you go back to school..the financial aid office usually notifies the lender that you are currently enrolled so then they get deferred (at your request). At least they did when I went back to school.

Hey there is some important info you should know. If you dont have a Bachelors yet your limit for financial aid is 47,000 or near that amount. If you are going into a graduate program then your fine. If you are not at your Bachelors yet make sure you are aware of the school cost because once you go over your limit then you have to go after credit based private loans
