I ordered my Chex report for the heck of it. I know I don't have anything, and it's clear, as I expected.

However, there was a letter before the report:

QUOTE
This letter is in response to your recent communication regarding information contained in ChexSystems files.

Please be informed that while processing your request, a discrepancy was discovered that associates your Social Security number, XXX-XX-XXXX (last for x'ed out for privacy) with another individual's account information. Therefore, your file has been forwarded to the appropriate personnel for handling. We will contact the source of the information to request that they reinvestigate the accuracy of the Social Security number they submitted us.

The thing is, the last 4 of the SS noted is similar to mine, except for the last digit. Does this mean that they fatfingered my info, or that someone fatfingered their social similar to mine?

I had some issues a while back with ID Theft and now have alerts on all my credit reports. Any request for credit I have requires me to call and verify my info on the phone number listed in the alert. Should I call Chex and let them know that the SS listed is not mine? I don't need any crap from someone else because someone didn't pay attention to what they were doing.

yes you should definitely follow up with this situation. It is a rather common thing to have a report in your name with incorrect information. Some people have told me they have received their report and it was actually someone elses. very common

Once I found out about these cluckers and what they do, I immediately called them and ordered a report. Got come information about them from some website. Nothing was on it though, which was very good.

You definitely should follow it up. File those documents and record those phone calls, because when the time comes, they will back down.

OMG, talk about blind leading the blind.

I called on my lunch and after waiting for a bit, verifying my info, including forwarding a pint of blood and my first born cat, I get the excuse that the info they entered was entered wrong. Um..yeah! I get put on hold, then the rep returns to tell me that I've entered the wrong info.

I stopped him right there and told him that no, I made a printout of the information before I sent it off, and that unless someone was blind, they would see that the info is correct.

So, they're not willing to admit that they made a mistake, but they're perfectly more than willing to point the blame in someone elses' direction. Good grief, no wonder people hate CS. Good thing my CU doesn't use them.

yep that sounds typical search.gif they don't have a clue. May I ask what credit union that you use?

Spirit of St. Louis for personal
Neighbors CU for HELOC. SO and I also have a joint checking there for our tax return deposits. Otherwise, we keep separate finances for various reasons.

Neighbors used to be the Postal Worker's CU until they changed their name about 3 years ago or so.
