We stopped at a Walmart while traveling and used our debit card for $12.17 + $100 cash back.
After returning home and checking the account, it isn't there.

More than a month has passed and today we called the bank to do an internal search, but they couldn't find it.
So we called the Walmart store and talked to their accountant and she said their computers went down right after we were there. She then said that the only way we could pay it is to drive down there and run it through again. That's a 174 mile round trip!

I'm tired of carrying over that $112.17. I want to be able to pay it or spend it.
I was thinking about writing to corporate and see if they'll come up with another way to run it through or forgive the amount, but I don't know dntknw.gif

Mail a check to their corporate HQ and/or the store in question.

Tell your bank your debit card was stolen; have it reissued with a different number; end of story. Clearly Walmart isn't to worried about it. Even at my small 8mil company, a client paying a $100 debt wouldn't be a notable event... they probably have $500-$1000/in stuff stolen every day from the store.

That would be a lie, something that's just not my thing! angel.gif

She said they couldn't except a check without a transaction in person. She insisted that we needed to drive down there and redo it with the debit card. Not driving down there.

It wasn't anyone's fault, but I'm not paying extra for it.

I am a "like to have my cake and eat it too" girl. I agree that just not paying it wouldn't feel right, but I would probably track down their consumer complaints department (you know..the ones who always send free gift cards to customers who have had bad experiences wink.gif )

Send them the check with a friendly "just thought i would share my experience. i love walmart and know they are always trying to improve..."

Maybe you will get a reward for your honesty. And, if you don't, you will know you did the right thing wink.gif

Same here... I'd mail a check. .. but the deal is .. since they are putting the stipulation that you must drive down there.. I go with the second choice & vote for donating the $$ to charity.
No doubt, when you got to the store they'd look at you like you had a screw loose.
