I applied for a checking account with a credit union a few weeks ago and it item came up when they ran my ss# through Chexsystem.

I think my account was closed 12/03, so it may take until the end of the year to fall off on it's on. I should probably try to work on getting it off sooner.

You're usually in ChexSystems 5 years, but there ARE banks willing to work with you within that 5 years to open new checking accounts.

More and more banks are opening accounts for people in ChexSystems--just do a little research and you should be able to find a bank willing to work with you.

Ummm, I am not looking to get another account. I have a checking with a CU that I've been with for over 7 years.

I only asked about being in Chexsystems because when I went to the CU(a different one) that my minor child has a savings account with ....to open a checking account for her, I had to be listed on the account. They checked Chexsystems and that's how I found out I had an item listed. I was still able to get the account open for her.
