I hope someone can help me out here, you've all been such a helpful resource and I SO appreciate your help! I have read Whychat’s medical collections process, but want to make sure I understand the steps it and that they apply in my situation. My DH and I want to buy a house within the next year and our mortgage broker insists that I need these medical collection baddies off of my credit report to boost my scores.

The sums of money are so low, that at this point I would be willing to just pay them off, IF I could guarantee they would be removed from my reports. Our mortgage broker even suggested that I just call the CAs directly and negotiate to pay them and have them removed, but I am worried that they won’t honor the removal from my record. It seems contrary to what I have read here. My understanding is that I should send the Whychat PRE HIPAA MEDICAL DISPUTE LETTER TO CRA and then pay them to the OC with the HIPAA letter insert "a." Is that right for the first 2?

These are the baddies that look like I need to still pay them:

1. Collection agency: Cbcs
Original balance: $100
Current balance: $100
Status: Not Reported
Date assigned: Sep 28, 2005
Date reported : Mar 09, 2008
Date last active: Not Reported
Original lender: Med1 02 Eye And Ear Sur

- This one should have been included in bankruptcy but isn’t on the list of debtors. I don’t mind paying to have it removed, I just want to make sure it IS removed.

2. Collection agency: Berks Cc
Original balance: $250
Current balance: $250
Status : Not Reported
Date assigned : Dec 13, 2006
Date reported: Feb 24, 2007
Reported Original lender: Med1 02 Hospital Inpt

- Again, I don’t mind paying to have it removed, I just want to make sure it IS removed.

These next three WERE included in the list of creditors for our bankruptcy but still seem to be reporting. Anything I can do about these?

3. Collection agency: Natl Recover
Original balance: $132
Current balance:
Status: Not Reported
Date assigned: Jan 28, 2005
Date reported: Mar 02, 2008
Date last active: Not Reported
Date paid : Not Reported
Date closed : Not Reported
Original lender Med1 02 Radiology

4. Collection agency : Berks Cc
Original balance : $194
Current balance :
Status : Not Reported
Date assigned : Apr 13, 2004
Date reported : Jan 28, 2006
Date last active : Not Reported
Date paid : Not Reported
Date closed : Not Reported
Original lender : Med1 02 Hospital Outpt

5. Collection agency : Acct Recov
Original balance : $290
Current balance :
Status : Not Reported
Date assigned : Sep 02, 2004
Date reported : Dec 05, 2005
Date last active : Not Reported
Date paid : Not Reported
Date closed : Not Reported
Original lender : Med1 02 Clinic Ltd

Finally, I have some collections showing similarly to this one, which DO show they were discharged in bankruptcy. Any way to get THESE removed? Am I just stuck with them sitting there taunting me on my record?

Collection on debt to: Not Reported
Collection agency : 496yc00000
Original balance : Not Reported
Current balance :
Status : In Bankruptcy
Date assigned : Jan 01, 2005
Date reported : Mar 01, 2008
Date last active : Nov 01, 2003
Date paid : Not Reported
Date closed : Not Reported
Original lender : Not Reported

Thanks in advance for your help!

Can anyone tell me if I should use Whychat's PRE HIPAA MEDICAL DISPUTE LETTER TO CRAs on the first tow below? If I use that process, do I need to send a separate letter to each of the CRA that is reporting it, or just to one of them?
CheshireCat
Oky, I'm still looking over the HIPAA process and I have a couple of questions.

Can I combine the 2 collections in one letter to the CRA? do I need to send them in 2 separate letters?

Must the letters be handwritten, or can I use my computer and print them out in itallic teal or purple font?

Thanks again!

Yes you can print it on your computer in itallic teal or purple font, however you should print it on a paper with a "background"
similar to a yellow legal pad with blue lines, or import a "stationary" design for the background as a watermark.

Yes you can put both collections in one medical dispute letter, however if you are disputing to several CRA's make sure the account
information matches in their letter, as frequently the same account will be reported differently for each CRA.
