I found an organization that has partnered with some banks to get checking accounts for people on Chexsystems. It's called Get Checking. Has anyone done this before? You have to take a class about checking and then they give you a certificate to bring to the bank to open an account. They said it can't be used if there's fraud on the Chexsystems report though.

I not personally although I know people that have gone through GetChecking. If US Bank is in your area then you can probably open up an account without going through the class.

yes, I believe it is different if you apply in branch. Some branches have "second chance checking"- but not all.

Also, I think you can open a BOA checking acct on line w/ a chex notation, but that may have changed.

Always apply in person at US Bank. You will get a regular and not a "second chance" account and the criteria are fairly liberal at least in Northern California. As long as you don't owe US Bank money and have a fraud abuse on your Chexsystem report then you will probably get approved and in Northern California US Bank is offering $75 to open up an account.

most US bank branches turn people on chexsystems down .... there are some "in store " locations that have different policies
