I had dental surgery in 2000 for a broken jaw. This on my credit report was what was left over after my insurance paid 80%. When is SOL for medical bills in Ohio? (4 years I am thinking, but want to make sure.) This is supposed to fall off my report this year (11/2008), but I want to have my SOL bases covered in case they decide to try to get blood from a turnip.

OKAY totally confused here now. TU got my CM letter in March 6th. Today in the mail I get a letter from then dated March 7th. (In which they sent to my OLD address, they are lucky I still have a forward on it, although they changed my mailing address on my CR.) Anyways, I am assuming that this is in response to the first letter I sent that said this:

Dear CRA,
My name is xxxxx xxxxxx , my SS # is xxx xx xxxx.
I am sending this dispute certified mail # xxxx to make sure you receive it.
I have no knowledge or records of account # xxxxx on my report # xxxxx.
Please advise me as to the name and address of the medical provider, the date and type of service, and to whom the service was provided, as any account I might have had would be obsolete.
If you can obtain this information, I also would need the name of the person providing this data, and the manner in which it was provided in order that I may pursue additional legal remedies.

Very truly yours,
xxxxxx

You know, the letter you said to send.

So this is what they say:

Thank you for contacting TU. Our goal is to maintain complete and accurate information on consumer credit reports. We have provided the information below in response to your request.

Re: Credit Report

If you would like to contact a creditor regarding the information they have reported to TU about you, you may contact them at the address and phone numbers below. All the addresses of of the CA's and such.

OK....the only thing I really didn't do was I didn't write the letter in italics and in teal or purple. Should I send them a second letter of the first letter, but WITH the italics and the teal/purple, or should I go on to something else? I mean, that is SO obviously NOT the information that I asked for and yeah it looks like some computer generated canned response was not even read by a human.

TU sent you an automated "quickie" response.
This is NOT the "real" response.
Do NOT contact them again until you get the FULL response as each additional inquiry or dispute adds 15 days to their allowed response time.

Update!

All right now, Why Chat, what do I do next?

I received the following letter today in the mail: Our investigation of the dispute you recently submitted is now complete. The results are listed below. Verified, No change. They did NOT answer the following questions: (Please advise me as to the name and address of the medical provider, the date and type of service, and to whom the service was provided, as any account I might have had would be obsolete.
If you can obtain this information, I also would need the name of the person providing this data, and the manner in which it was provided in order that I may pursue additional legal remedies.)

What do I do next? Contact TU again and tell them they did not answer the questions above, or go to step 2 and write the CA and tell them that they can no longer have any contact with TU and then write the TU back again? Do they always ignore what you have asked them to provide?

Check your actual TU report, sometimes they WILL delete even though they have sent a "verified" response.

If it is still there, ( and it is ONLY on TU), you have two choices:
One, you can file a complaint with the FTC stating that TU has failed to properly investigate a dispute on an unknown medical account, has not provided you with the name or address of the alleged original creditor health care provider, and has not provided you with the requested default and/or service date of this alleged account or the name of the purported patient. This is a violation of FACTA and the FCRA rules.

You then redispute to TU with a copy of your filed complaint.

OR, you can send THIS to the reporting CA:
http://whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html

and then send the special follow up letter to TU

OR BOTH
