I sure wish I found this website before last week!
I have been reading thru the threads but find myself a bit overwhelmed by all of the information. Apologies in advance for the newbie questions!!
I was alerted to ā€œbad credit†when I recently applied for car and home owners insurance.
I ordered my credit report from Equifax, Experian and Transunion and found a number of medical collection issues I need to deal with.
I do not dispute that I owe this money and really just want to pay them all and be done with it.
Sooo, before reading this and other information out there I was in a rush to get things in order.
I called one of my original creditors and paid in full one of the medical collections that show on my credit report ($166).
I was told they would notify the collection agency that it was paid in full but I failed to ask anything about having it removed from my credit report.
I plan to wait until my report is updated and see what it says.
Since I seriously doubt it will be deleted automatically it seems I will need to ā€œopt out†and then send the PRE HIPAA MEDICAL DISPUTE LETTER TO CRA.
I’m not sure I understand this ā€œopt-out†stuff.
Can anyone explain or point me in the right direction? I tried ā€œsearch†but it didn’t pull anything up . . .
After I read and read some more, I did not contact anyone else to make payments.
Maybe someone here can offer some advice.
Aside from the $166 medical bill I paid in full, I have 6 other medical collections showing that total $322.00.
I’m able and willing to pay them but obviously I would like them deleted from my credit report.
From what I have read on the board it seems like I should send out whyhcats HIPPA letter to the health care provider
with insert A along with my payment(s) in full and then send the follow up letter after I confirm that payment has been accepted/deposited.
Can anyone confirm that is correct?? OR – should I be using a ā€œpay for deletion†letter?
Maybe I should start with a ā€œpay for deletion letter†and see what happens?
I am anxious to get these taken care I’m just not sure where to start!
Any suggestions?
Thank You!
P.S. there are other issues with my credit report that deal with my student loan but
am trying to take care of one problem at a time – that’s a whole other story so I won’t bore you with those questions – yet!
