Full Version: Regular deposits to online savings?

How do most of you make deposits to your online savings accts, i,e, ING, etc.? I don't really want to mail a check every month? I have my paycheck split into two direct deposits (one for mortgage, one for everything else), which I want to maintain that as it works well for me, and my employer will not let me do more than two.

I pay my bills individually online through the creditors and not through bill pay. Do these online savings banks have a similar online deposit process where one's other accounts can be electronically debited? That would be ideal.

I have both my ING and HSBC set up to automatically make deposits from my main bank account every two weeks (paydays)

I do too. I do an HSBC deposit every month from their site just like I would be paying a CC bill.

Most banks have a service where you can link an external account. I have BOA and linked my AMEX ONE high yield savings account (4.5%). I did a direct transfer to amex one and it took 3 days. All you do is wait for the trial deposits and then you can transfer your money to ING , etc.

I do deposits to my emigrant through there site bi-weekly. I just set it on auto so emigrant pulls from my boa every two weeks (payday)

Electronically. Actually most of the money I make on ebay these days, I transfer from Paypal right into my online savings... laugh.gif

Mostly I am funding a WAMU savings (money market) and Bank of America.. though the account I have doesn't pay great yields.. I use their KEEP THE CHANGE program which they match dollar for dollar the first 90 days you do it ( you just don't get the match for almost 14 months from what I understand).

I'm at a point where I am working at pay off debt, so I don't really have the savings accounts ramped up, because if I do have a lump sum, I tend to want to just put the money in my Roth IRA.

One savings I have is at the same place our checking is...and I can just get online and transfer money over in real time.

We also use USAA for savings and money market, and I can set those up months in advance, and it just comes from our other financial institution on the day I set it up.

I used to have an ASP but found that I had room to save more. Because certain bills/expenses pop up at various times of the month, I manually move money to my HSBC account every pay day. The amounts vary depending on what bills I have coming up, birthdays, holidays etc.

I do have an ASP set up bi-weekly for money that I'm putting away for my buddy's kid.

I had my father switch me to a HSBC account just recently and I went off of the ASP. Is it beneficial to be on both in your opinion?
