ETA: Unless you're a mindless policy-bot, you support not asking for ID as a matter of personal protection and privacy, knowing that there is potential for misuse of such information. If so, then you should also support those who choose to transact in cash for the same reasons. Otherwise, you're just a hypocrite.
Cash costs money to print, transport, count, deposit, etc...
Our society wastes money by using cash.
