Hello all,

I'm a newbie who came here for a purpose.

My wife has been very financially irresponsible in her life and as such, we have had seperate finances for some time.

However, her irresponsiblity in hurting my Credit Score. Her medical insurance came thru my job. She went to the Dentist and had some work done, but did not pay the non covered part. She ended up with a $149 balance.

The problem is that the dentist is trying thru a CA, to get it from me because the policy was in my name.

I have disputed it with the Collection Agency several times by mail and they just ignore me.

I can find nothing that says I have to pay the uncovered portion for HER medical. I can not legally prevent her from using my medical, but they seem to think I am responsible none the less. I even called the Dentist a few years ago (it's a debt from 2001) to see if it was just her not filing right with the insurance and they would not even talk to me about the debt except to say "you owe".

It just doesn't seem right. Is there any help for me?

Your contract with your INSURANCE Co. requires you to take responsibility for any deductibles or co-pays on YOUR insurance.
As long as your wife ( or children) are ON your insurance you are responsible to pay the left over bills.

However, in order to get this OFF your reports you will need to dispute it to the CRA's where it is being reported.
You can use the HIPAA letter program to do this.

If you pay the reporting CA you will be left with a "paid" collection on your reports.
