Full Version: Consolidation vs. Rehabilitating Student Loans
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

I have a student loan (over 10yrs old) that I consolidated 2yrs ago in 2005 (before I found out about rehabilitation) and was told today that unless my loan is in default (it's not anymore b/c of the consolidation) I no longer qualify for rehabilitation.

I would prefer to rehab it b/c if would be deleted from my credit reports after the 9 month history of on time payments.

Any advice on what I can do to get into the rehab program and out of the consolidation one?

Thanks to all,
Angela

You were given the correct information already. You are no longer eligible for rehab since you consolidated the loan. You cant get out of one and in to the other.

interesting, so if you want the default to get off your CR, it seems it is best to do a rehab?
