Full Version: Sallie Mae duplicate entries
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

Hi all, I'm on the road to cleaning up my credit and my student loan history is driving me nuts! After going through the 20+ entries, I have found what I think is error. On my Sallie Mae entries there are 4 individual loan amounts duplicated. One showing as closed w/no lates, last reported in 1998 and then the other showing as collection/chargeoff with 90+ late, last reported in 2004. The notes on the negative show the account transferred or sold.

I have been paying off a consolidation loan since around 2004 and wondering if I should dispute the entries with them or what? My life was a mess back then so details about deferments and what not are a little hazy. I realize that this may screw me but I was stupid back then.

In addition to duplicate Sallie Mae entries, my CR shows the two current consolidation loans in good standing, the two prev loans transferred to the current loans, a few other Sallie Mae loans that show as closed/current, and 6 US DEPT OF ED loans showing derog/closed.

Any ideas on what I should do?

You try and dispute as obsolete seeing as some of them are from 1998, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few/most/all of them stuck around.
