Time again for some questions. I'm super stressed over this. I wanted some info before I get on the phone next week. Thanks for any assistance.

1. Are these loans in the parent's name only or are they joint with the student?
2. How do they report for the parent?
3. Is there a limit to how many you can have? (I have an almost-junior and a new freshman).
4. My BK was discharged 1/06. Sallie Mae turned me down last year because of the BK, which made my daughter eligible for a little more Stafford money but it's not enough. Am I still ineligible this year because of the BK or can this vary from one lender to another? I thought I read somewhere that if you had a BK within the last 5 years you were out of luck.
5. Any suggestions where to try for more $$ if the Parent Plus is not available to us?

Again, thanks for any advice.

Parents only.

Same way as any other student loan.

Since plus loans are credit based, I don't believe there is a max....it is based on your credit.
4. My BK was discharged 1/06. Sallie Mae turned me down last year because of the BK, which made my daughter eligible for a little more Stafford money but it's not enough. I copied this off another site.

PLUS Loan Denials
When a parent is denied a Federal PLUS Loan by
a lender, the student may be eligible for Additional
Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. First-year students
and sophomores may be eligible for up to $4,000,
while juniors and seniors may be eligible for up to
$5,000. The Additional Unsubsidized Stafford
Loan can only be processed after we have received
a copy of the PLUS Loan denial. PLUS Loan
denials are only valid for one year from the date of
the denial letter.
What are the options after a PLUS Loan is
denied?

At the time of a PLUS Loan denial, a notification
is sent to both the parent and to the Office of
Student Financial Aid (OSFA). Eligibility for the
Additional Unsubsidized Stafford Loan is
contingent on several factors, including the total
amount of aid the student has already received.
Depending on whether the student’s initial Stafford
Loan has already been processed, the student may
have to complete another Stafford Loan Request.
The student should contact the OSFA for specific
application instructions and to confirm that we
have received the PLUS Loan denial.

With that current a BK, I do not know any lender that will touch you. You kids themselves might need to apply for private loans.

Again, thanks for any advice.
